The Development of Live Oak International
The story of Live Oak International began more than three decades ago when Charlotte Weber hosted driving competitions on her plantation in Ocala, Florida. Originally, the driving portion of the event took place on nearby grounds, but when a new location for the marathon phase was needed, Charlotte offered her property. After a few years, the entire event moved to her farm.
Chloe recalls that about 15 years ago she was watching one of her uncle Chester’s events and asked her mother why no show-jumping competitions were held on the beautiful arena with its excellent footing. This question marked the beginning of the integration of show jumping into Live Oak International. Chloe’s mother, who was working with the Washington International Horse Show at the time, brought the necessary experience, and the idea began to take shape.

Today, Chloe and Chester travel the world competing at some of the best events. They use these opportunities to gather ideas and improvements for Live Oak International. Chloe is particularly interested in integrating European elements into the tournament. As a result, the schedule of Live Oak International is modeled more closely on European events: from Friday to Sunday there is top-level sport, allowing participants to enjoy the beginning of the week at home and compete at a high-level competition over the weekend.
Team USA and International Success
In 2012, Chloe made history when, at just 15 years old, she became the youngest person ever to represent the U.S. team in international show jumping competitions. Since then, she has been selected for the U.S. team several times and has competed at renowned events in Aachen, Rome, Wellington, Falsterbo, Barcelona, and Sopot. Chloe is particularly proud of competing in Sopot in 2017 on the same team as Lauren Hough—who had sparked her passion for horses as a child—and winning the Nations Cup.
Chloe credits Codarco with a large part of her success, as the horse gave her the confidence that she could make it onto the big stage. Together they celebrated their first major victories in the United States and internationally.

One of the most important horses in Chloe Reid’s career was the stallion Codarco, whom she began riding at the age of eight. Together with Codarco, Chloe progressed into the higher levels of international show jumping and proved herself against the best riders in the world. Sadly, Codarco passed away in 2018 at the age of just 11 due to an aggressive form of cancer—a loss Chloe describes as the most difficult of her career.
